As a psychiatric Nurse with 11 years of nursing in tough public Acute wards, ending up in ED on a few occasions, if not off sick with injury, I managed to get out of this area with a job as an Associate Manager position in a less frantic private hospital. What it has done for my general health…both mentally and physically is quite amazing. That has had a knock-on affect to my family life, which while has always been good, has now enabled me to enjoy it more !

A lesson I have learnt is if you want to look after other people, then you have to look after yourself.

I don’t regret for one minute the time I worked in public acute…it was awesome…sometimes dreadful, but often amazing.
I had come to a stage in my life when change was needed.

Piers

I love photographing piers – they are simple, and lend well to a minimalist photograph – also they are great for their ability to lead the eye to who knows what is beyond.

I was asked..does everything happen for a reason?

Within the world of physics and social sciences, debates have been raised about why things happen, and whether the consequences of events are directly linked to initial reason. The Butterfly Effect argues that for example, the reason that certain weather events occur is through an accumulation of previous smaller, even determined insignificant, events…this basic theory can be applied to various situations..whether as a reason or excuse.

The theory of Unintentional Consequences in the social sciences suggests that – whether we like it or not – the human race does not have total control over our lives, and that sometimes the reason we do things has consequences which are outside our control.
It is lack of control that sometimes, in times of crisis, we find ourselves searching for reason..maybe in an endeavor to stop the event happening again, or simply to give the situation an element of logic..without it the consequences are too overwhelming to deal within the human mind.
Personally, I think the human race is far too insignificant to allow ourselves the luxury of believing that our reasoning can order the world, that we need to do our part to look after ourselves and all which surrounds us, but to remember that sometimes things do happen without apparent reason…at least directly….and if all else fails, we can always blame God.

I’ve decided I want to blog more…in fact, as I am fairly new to blogging, i though this would be great motivation for me!

While my ‘main’ reason to blog is about photography – I also want to do some writing and sharing – so this is perfect.

Rather than just thinking about doing it, I’m starting right now.  I will be posting on this blog once a week for all of 2011.

I know it won’t be easy, but it might be fun, inspiring, awesome and wonderful. Therefore I’m promising to make use of The DailyPost, and the community of other bloggers with similiar goals, to help me along the way, including asking for help when I need it and encouraging others when I can.

If you already read my blog, I hope you’ll encourage me with comments and likes, and good will along the way.

Signed,

Caroline

I’m a nurse and also a photographer.

This blog is mainly about sharing the places I visit as a photographer through words and photographs – with some input about how I view the world in general thrown in.

I have a number of photos which are my personal favourites which I would like to share …the rest of my writings are a work in progress….a journal of my excursions.

Here are just a few photos to start off with – hope you will continue to drop in and take a look in the near future:

Private Jetty:

Sorrento, Victoria where there is a little beach, with lots of piers and small boathouses.

Green Folds:

Taken in Gippsland, a beautiful region of old volcanic hills which produce these dramatic folds.

Strength:

This wonderful tree was taken in Wallan, country Victoria. An extremely foggy day, which is rare for this part of the world, I only found it after getting completely lost !

Reflective times:

The end of the day in Lakes Entrance, Victoria

Let It Wash Over You:

Melbourne singer Jess McAvoy – worth listening to !
